Chronology of cameras Kodak
This variation of the Kodak 35 is very rare because it was made for the needs of the US Army during the Second World War, in which it was known under the reference PH-324S.
This is a Kodak 35, the metal parts are painted black, except the base of the optical unit which is painted the same color as the jacket, which is to say "olive"
At the end of the war, a number of these cameras have continued to be used in various state agencies, including in the army during the Korean War, and spread out in nature. To make it a little more discreet about their origin, olive parties were painted black. On the base, two small holes must be the rest of a plate.
So how to recognize a PH-324S a 35 "civilian" disguised in black? Along military lines, the entire front part of the block is black and the scriptures are white except the speed 1/100, aperture 8 and 25 feet distance which are red. These settings are for the hyperfocal and a "standard" exposure with a standard film of the moment. These tiny inscriptions on a Ebay photo allowed me to recognize this device.
This military version is equipped with a Kodak Diomatic shutter and a pretty poor anastigmat 4.5 / 51 mm lens.
